Other interesting stats from the report reveal that 29 percent of Americans own a tablet -- up from just 5 percent two years ago -- and the average American owns four tech devices.

Among the key specs expected from Apple’s upcoming iPhone 6 is a bigger display. In fact, more than half a dozen independent reports from leading newspapers suggest Apple plans to launch not one but two new iPhone models this year, an iPhone 6 with a 4.7- or 4.8-inch display and a separate phablet-sized model with an even larger display.

Microsoft’s   Windows Phone posted the largest increase for both the fourth quarter and the year, with each category nearly doubling the growth of the overall iocean x7 mtk6582 smartphone market, while BlackBerry   was the only operating system to suffer a negative year-on-year change both for the quarter and for the year.
