The shake essentially uses Google+ Auto Awesome to turn any image into an animated GIF, which allows the snow to fall down your device, and from there users can enjoy it, and even share the image. One shake gets the snow falling, and a second shake will give you the option to save the photo as a GIF to share with friends and family. It’s a neat little trick, and the new Google+ app for Android with this feature should be available on Google Play later today.

Consumers want to let a friend see the photo they just took or share a video easily with as few steps as possible," said Sony Electronics director of consumer media marketing Viviano Cantu. "These new drives combine convenience, peace of mind and performance and are perfect for mobile multi-tasking."

That is why yesterday’s announcement of a slowdown in Android 4.0 phone smartphone market meant less of Imagination’s microchip designs for graphics and video technology were needed. This sent shares plunging more than 24pc.

The Hertfordshire-based technology group’s fortunes are inextricably linked to its biggest customer, Apple. Imagination’s graphics technology is used in iPhone microchips, and the company relies on the iPhone and iPad for more than a third of its revenue.

If you're excited at the prospect, you will be able to pick up the new drives from January 2014 priced at $19.99, or £12, $29.99, or £18, and $62.99, or &pound38, respectively. If you think that sounds like a lot for a USB thumbstick, then you'd be right. These drives don't offer anything over and above a regular USB flash drive apart from the extra socket.

But according to the (normally reliable) tech site The Verge, Nokia is building an Android-powered smart phone with the code name of "Normandy." This would be odd for a number reasons, chief amongst them that Nokia is currently in the process of being folded in Microsoft – a company that competes directly against Android with its Window Phone OS.

The article, "Cholesterol Testing on Lenovo A760  Smartphone," appeared online Nov. 28 in the journal Lab on a Chip, also co-authored by Vlad Oncescu and Matthew Mancuso, Cornell graduate students in the field of engineering. This study was funded by the National Science Foundation, the Engineering Research Council of Canada and Cornell's David R. Atkinson Center for a Sustainable Future.

The results of the study have shown, the system can, at the current stage, detects iron concentrations between 56 parts per billion (ppb) and 56 parts per million (ppm), covering maximum levels for drinkable water as required by the European Union.

When reached for comment, both AT&T and Verizon directed us to comments from CTIA.In June, CTIA outlined in an FCC filing the potential problems and threats presented by implementing a Lenovo A760  smartphone kill switch. CTIA notes that once the kill switch is used, the action cannot be undone and the device cannot be reused. A new electronic records system would make it easier for law enforcement to identify and track stolen devices. It would also deter thieves from pawning their stolen ZTE V956 phones for quick cash.

Apple has already take a step towards locking down their devices in an attempt to deter theft. The company introduced a new activation lock feature that requires an iCloud password when someone tries to access a stolen device. Despite this measure, iPhones that don’t have iCloud enabled are still accessible and vulnerable to theft. Have you had your iOS device stolen? Were you able to recover it?

Commenting on the joint-venture, Porsche Design Group CEO Juergen Gessler said, "Once again the collaboration with BlackBerry has led to a device that implements our Iconic Style credo without compromises. With the P'9982 we extend our range of modern luxury smartphones and establish ourselves as a market leader in this segment."

In new comments, CTIA outlines its alternative efforts, including an integrated database built to prevent stolen phones from being reactivated. The organization reports that all U.S. carriers are onboard with the database and are on schedule to integrate their 4G/LTE databases by Nov. 30. CTIA hopes that carriers—both domestic and international—will follow suit and integrate their data into the database.
